In 2016, the international office estudio Herreros designed the installation ‘The Designer Designed by Humans’ at the 3rd Istambul Design Biennale. It was fascinating to participate in this process as part of the research and production team. This installation re-define the designer practice as a product of technological, hyperconnected, and innovative society on the one hand and collaborative, participatory, and politicized by some other. Five types of designers are extracted and explored through this audiovisual display: Designer by Email, Designer as Social Mediator, Designer of Parts of a Whole, Designer of Prototypes, and Designer as Consultants Coordinator.
